Safety competence is an important component in developing the professionalism of Engineer Cadets because maritime operations involve various hazards, including risks associated with chemicals and shipboard activities. This study aims to examine the effects of maritime chemistry knowledge, safety awareness, and risk management on the safety competence of Engineer Cadets. A quantitative survey approach was designed involving 100 respondents as simulated data. Data collection was designed using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire. Data analysis employed Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), including outer and inner model evaluations. The simulated results indicate that maritime chemistry knowledge has a positive and significant effect on safety competence, while safety awareness and risk management also have positive and significant effects on safety competence. Simultaneously, the three independent variables explain 72.4% of the variance in cadets' safety competence. The simulated findings indicate that maritime chemistry education, safety awareness development, and risk identification and control should be integrated into Engineer Cadets to strengthen cadets' preparedness for safe shipboard operations.
